and sustainable Thanksgiving!


GTA homeowners are thinking smaller, using less, buying locally and adopting a sustainable lifestyle. With more than 400 exhibits, Green Street and a new Condo City Living section, the 22nd annual International Home Show running Thanksgiving Weekend (October 5 to 8) is helping consumers enhance their homes by offering eco friendly and economical choices that will improve their daily living and the environment. From home improvements, décor and entertaining to green products, small space living, collectibles and eco-cuisine, the International Home Show can help you celebrate an abundant and enviro-friendly Thanksgiving.

Special Attractions

• How to be a Conscientious Consumer: Leslie Garnett, author of the Virtuous Consumer: Your Essential Shopping Guide for a Better, Kinder, Healthier World will be appearing at the Green Stage on Saturday offering pointers on how to shop with a social and environmental conscience.

• Green Street : The area devoted to building a sustainable lifestyle has grown to more than 100 exhibits with the latest energy saving and enviro-conscious products. Hourly presentations on topics such as The Healthy House, Eco-friendly Purchasing Habits, Green Roofs, Straw Bale Building and new incentives to reduce energy and go green are part of the line-up.

• Eat Local: Food trends consultant, Dana McCauley joins the “green team” as she whips up a sustainable Thanksgiving meal using local fare in recipes from her new cookbook.

• Casalife Condo Project presented by Sony Bravia: This full-size condo mock-up helps demystify small space planning and smart design. Multiple layouts, colour stories, space planning concepts and the newest multi-purpose and modular furniture prove there are no limitations to comfort and style in a small space setting.

• Condo City Living presented by Builder/Architect: For visitors interested in condo dwelling… builders, decorators and suppliers have the latest on condo projects and conveniences for small space living.
